This is an etching by Luigi Kasimir, an etcher, painter, printmaker, and landscape artist. He was one of the first to develop the technique of colored etching; before this, prints were usually hand-colored, often in a haphazard manner. He would create a sketch in pastel, then transfer the design to plates, printing one plate after the other, then apply the color on the plate. He was famous for his etchings of New York City landmarks and natural wonders like Yosemite Valley, and he designed a bookplate for Sigmund Freud. The etching is signed in the margin at the bottom and dated 1933 in the image on the lower right. The overall size is 23 1/2 x 19 1/2 in . wide and the sight size is 16 x 11 1/4 in. wide.
