Louis V. Aronson (1869–1940) was an American inventor and industrialist renowned for his contributions to both decorative arts and practical innovations. Born in New York City, he graduated from a technical school specializing in metallurgy at the age of 16. By 1893, he had developed a non-toxic match and founded The Art Metal Works in Newark, New Jersey. His company gained fame for producing high-quality bronze decorative items, including lamps, bookends, and incense burners, often featuring Egyptian Revival and Art Deco designs. In 1913, Aronson patented the pocket lighter, which became widely known under the Ronson brand, a name derived from his own. His work in both decorative arts and practical inventions left a lasting impact on early 20th-century American design.
