Louis Icart (18881950) was a French painter, graphic artist, illustrator, and master printmaker best known for his elegant Art Deco etchings depicting fashionable women, romantic scenes, and Parisian society. Born in Toulouse and active primarily in Paris, Icart developed a distinctive style influenced by eighteenth-century French masters such as Jean-Antoine Watteau, François Boucher, and Jean-Honoré Fragonard. His highly refined, often sensual images became emblematic of the Art Deco era and enjoyed great popularity in both Europe and the United States. Over the course of his career, he produced more than 500 etchings and illustrated numerous books, leaving a lasting legacy as one of the most recognizable French graphic artists of the early twentieth century.
