Linda Lee was born in 1948 in Oregon. She married Kerry Kinman in the late 1960s and admired his painting style, which he had learned from his mother, the California Impressionist Florence Sackett. He began teaching her, and together they taught classes to others, eventually getting both their works accepted by a gallery in Sedona, Arizona in 1983. Seeing the vivid and stark scenery had a transcendental effect on the couple, who moved there in order to seek further inspiration in the landscape. Their desert scenes, often painted with palette knives and heavy impasto, were highly sought along the West Coast for many years, and they purchased a mobile hom that they used to travel throughout the Southwestern states to research the flora and climates they sought to capture in their canvases. Lee continued to paint right up until her death in 2014 after a prolonged battle with cancer.
