Lengthy Abadeh Persian Wool Runner. Rich red and blue tones, vibrant colors that would catch the eye.

An Abadeh Persian rug (also called Abaadeh) is a type of Persian carpet made in the town of Abadeh in modern day Iran. The tow lies halfway between Isfahan and Shiraz, two of the most famous rugmaking areas in the country, and many concepts and designs from the two have permeated the style there over the centuries. Their rugs are usually longer, often runners, with a large diamond pattern in center and smaller diamonds in the corners, which distinguishes them from most other Persian rugs. Often they are made with robust reds, cream tones, and dark blues, and have a lower knot density than their neighbors. The rosette in the middle of the diamond was inspired by the style of the Ghashgai nomads who passed through the city on their travels, who also contributed specific geometric and floral motifs. Perhaps the most distinctive feature of the rugs, which use wool for the pile and cotton for the warp and weft, is the implied line created within the medallion from the rosette outward on the long sides, symbolizing the journey between the cities of Isfahan and Shiraz with Abadeh squarely in the middle.
