Leigong, the fearsome Chinese god of thunder, roars through the clouds with wings outstretched and a drum in hand, his clawed feet and beaked face more beast than man. Often depicted with a muscular frame and a scowling visage, he strikes his thunder drum with mallets to unleash storms and mete out divine justice, especially against the wicked or those who misuse hidden knowledge. Lightning is his weapon, and thunder his warning—a celestial enforcer whose presence splits the sky and shakes the earth. Both feared and revered, Leigong embodies nature’s wrath and moral order, a reminder that heaven sees all, and justice comes on the wings of the storm.
