Julius F. Faysash (1904–1977) was a Hungarian-born American artist celebrated for his contributions to painting, illustration, and art education. Born in Budapest, he immigrated to the United States with his family in 1914, eventually settling in Akron, Ohio, where he spent the majority of his life. Faysash pursued formal art education at the Cleveland School of Art and the University of Akron, and further honed his skills under the tutelage of artists such as Wayman Adams, Henry G. Keller, and Sandor Vago. A founding member of the Akron Society of Artists in 1931, he served as its president in 1934 and 1946. From the 1940s until his retirement in 1969, Faysash worked as an illustrator for the Firestone Company, primarily utilizing watercolors. Post-retirement, he spent part of each year in Mexico, where he expanded his artistic repertoire to include oils and acrylics, culminating in an M.F.A. from the Instituto Allende/University of Guanajuato in 1973. His works, characterized by their narrative quality and diverse mediums, have been exhibited in various venues and continue to be appreciated for their artistic merit.
