James Cox (b. 1956) is a British contemporary abstract artist known for his dynamic non‑figurative compositions in painting, printmaking, and mixed media. Born in England, he completed foundational art studies before earning a B.A. (Hons) in Fine Art at West Surrey College of Art and Design in 1979, after which extensive travel in France and Egypt in the early 1980s broadened his visual vocabulary and influence. Upon returning to London he co‑founded Albion Editions, producing fine art etchings and silkscreen prints, and in 1988 he moved to Florence, Italy, where he has continued to live and work, developing a distinctive abstract style that blends vibrant color, gestural forms, and layered textures; his works have appeared regularly at auction and in private collections internationally.
