Founded in Philadelphia in 1839 by watchmaker James Emmot Caldwell, J.E. Caldwell & Co. became one of America's most prestigious luxury jewelers, renowned for fine silver, jewelry, watches, and custom china. The firm earned national recognition through commissions for the U.S. Navy and its exhibition at the 1876 Centennial Exposition before closing its historic stores in the early 2000s. The J.E. Caldwell name was revived in Philadelphia in 2019.
