Hoi Lebadang (1921-2015), also known as Lê Bá Đảng, was a celebrated Vietnamese-French painter, printmaker, sculptor, and mixed-media artist whose work bridged Eastern and Western artistic traditions. Born in Quảng Trị, Vietnam, he moved to France in 1939 and later studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse, where he developed the foundations of a career that would gain international recognition. His art is distinguished by richly textured surfaces, innovative combinations of materials, and recurring themes of horses, landscapes, villages, spirituality, and the human connection to nature. Drawing on both Vietnamese cultural heritage and European modernism, Lebadang created works that move between abstraction and representation, often evoking dreamlike, poetic worlds. His paintings, prints, and sculptures have been exhibited internationally and are held in major public and private collections, including the Cincinnati Art Museum and the Rockefeller Collection.
