Hiroyuki Tajima (1911-1984) was a Japanese printmaker born in Tokyo who graduated from both Nihon University and the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. After creating his first print in 1946, he joined the Bijutsu Bunka Kyokai, a group of abstract and surrealist artists. He also studied techniques with Nagase Yoshi, an artist of the sōsaku-hanga (creative print) school. Today, Tajima is best known for his distinctive abstract prints, characterized by broad areas of rich, dense color.
