Sight Size: 10 1/2 x 13 1/2 in. 

Little is known of Japanese silk painter Hiroshi Terauchi's life, as poor record keeping due to World War II's devastation has obscured details of his career, which spanned from at least the 1930s to the 1950s. He lived and worked in Tokyo, producing landscape paintings that showed more Impressionistic influences than his contemporaries. His works are collected for their gentle, direct portrayal of simple life in Old Japan. This nostalgic subject matter was popular during both the rise of the militaristic Shōwa regime and in the wake of the Allied Occupation.
