Herbert L. Wilson was a 19th Century painter whose work was exhibited at the Grosvenor Gallery and at the Royal Academy of the British Institute in the 1860s and 70s. This painting portrays Helen Duncombe, daughter of the Earl of Feversham, as a young girl. She became Lady Helen Vincent, Viscountess D'Abernon, who was celebrated for her beauty, intelligence, and charm. Other portraits of her can be found throughout British museums, including one by John Singer Sargent.
