Hélène Guétary (born 1957 in Neuilly, France) is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist whose work spans painting, photography, multimedia projects, writing, and directing. After living and working in New York for over a decade, she gained early recognition as a painter and illustrator before developing ambitious photographic and multimedia bodies of work, including the long‑term HYPNOPOMPIA project supported by Polaroid, which was exhibited in France and the U.S. and included in notable collections. Guétary has also directed award‑winning short films and documentaries, contributed to the visual identity of the ARTE TV channel, and authored several novels. In recent years she returned to photography with surreal, introspective series created during the pandemic and has exhibited internationally, most recently with solo shows in Paris and collaborative exhibitions in India, while continuing to explore themes of identity, humanity, and the fragility of the world through her evolving artistic practice.
