Gerald Edwin Robert Tucker was born to Welsh parents in 1932 and studied at the Harrow School of Art as well as the Slade School of Art. In his mid-twenties he purchased a converted Thames barge and turned it into an art gallery, mooring it at Pin Mill, Suffolk. With his growing reputation for his coastal scenes and paintings of Thames sailing barges, he exhibited paintings in The Royal Society of Marine Artists and The Royal Institute of Oil Painters. Several notable galleries sold his paintings including the Harrods Gallery and the Omell Gallery, and when he died in 2016 he was renowned in both Europe and America for his ability to capture light and portray both subtle and intricate images with extremely delicate watercolors.
