George Barris (1922-2016) American, Large Color Photograph and Book of Marilyn Monroe. The image, titled "White Robe," is part of his iconic series known as "The Last Photos," taken shortly before the star's death in 1962. There are no known editions of this piece, and only a handful of proofs. Signed in pen bottom right. Comes with certificate of authenticity and appraisal from the Andrew Weiss Gallery in a plastic envelope attached to the back of the frame. The book, titled "Marilyn: Her Life in Her Own Words," was written by Barris and published by Citadel Press in 1995, utilizing the photos he took at their last session.

George Barris (1922-2016) was a prominent American photographer and photojournalist celebrated for capturing iconic images of Hollywood’s biggest stars. After getting his start documenting General Dwight D. Eisenhower for the U.S. Army, he moved to Hollywood and photographed legends like Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, and Marlon Brando. He is most famously associated with Marilyn Monroe, whom he began photographing in 1954 on the set of The Seven Year Itch. Their close professional relationship culminated in a 1962 series known as "The Last Photos," taken just weeks before Monroe’s death.
