Gaston Carrio (born December 20, 1975, in Buenos Aires, Argentina) is a contemporary abstract artist, architect, and designer whose work merges architectural structure with expressive mixed-media painting. Trained as an architect at the Universidad de Belgrano, where he earned his Bachelor of Architecture in 2001, Carrio has worked internationally in architectural design while developing a parallel practice in visual art. His paintings and sculptural works often incorporate diverse materials—such as aluminum, steel, fiberglass, wood, resins, and layered pigments—combined with oils, acrylics, and other media to create textured abstract compositions that explore subconscious symbolism and emotional depth. Influenced by artists such as Anselm Kiefer, Joan Mitchell, and Cy Twombly, Carrio’s work emphasizes experimentation and material complexity. He has exhibited in art fairs and galleries in the United States and internationally and founded Carrio Contemporary, a gallery initiative connecting experimental artists across cities including Miami Beach, Buenos Aires, and Houston.
