Erté, born Romain de Tirtoff (1892–1990), was a Russian-born French artist and designer known for his influential work in the Art Deco movement. He was famous for his fashion illustrations, theatrical costume designs, and set designs, as well as his distinctive graphic arts. Erté's work was characterized by its elegance, glamour, and stylized forms, often depicting elongated figures adorned in lavish costumes. His designs graced the covers of *Harper’s Bazaar* and influenced the fashion and entertainment industries throughout the 1920s and beyond. Erté also designed costumes for the Folies Bergère, opera, ballet, and film, blending fantasy and high style in his creations. With a career that spanned several decades, Erté’s artistic vision became synonymous with the luxurious aesthetic of the Art Deco era, making him one of the most iconic designers of the 20th century.
