Ernst Hugo Lorenz-Murowana was a German painter and restorer best known for his atmospheric landscapes, marine scenes, and moonlit nocturnes. Born in Murowana Goślina (then part of Germany) in 1872, he spent most of his career in Berlin, where he worked as both an artist and a conservator. His paintings often depict the landscapes of Berlin, Potsdam, Pomerania, and the Baltic coast, with a particular emphasis on the effects of light, air, and water. Renowned for his tranquil moonlit river and lakeside scenes, Lorenz-Murowana combined technical skill with a romantic sensitivity to nature, creating works that remain popular among collectors of German landscape painting.
