Arthur Schneider (1866-1942) American, Oil on Board, Impressionist Landscape. Arthur E. Schneider — painter and illustrator — was born in 1866 in Madison, WI and died on February 7, 1942. He lived and worked in New York City (1905-1913), Cleveland, Chicago, Tampa, FL, and Boston, MA. Schneider is remembered for his landscapes, genre scenes, villages, streets, children, and Arabs. Schneider studied in New York City and Europe and was a member of the American Watercolor Society in New York City; the New York Watercolor Club. In 1906 and 1912, he won a prize at the Salmagundi Club in New York City and, in 1913, a prize for his work at the American Watercolor Society. Schneider also exhibited at the National Academy of Design in 1896; the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1915; and the Boston Art Club from 1901 to 1904 and then 1907 to 1908.
