Crichton Brothers (also known as Crichton & Co) was established by Lionel Alfred Crichton in Kensington, England in 1890. The company dealt with antique and retail silver, functioning both as an auction house and hiring silversmiths to craft original pieces as well as reproductions of popular styles from the early 19th Century. In 1905 they opened a second location in the West End, and in 1912 they established two more branches in the United States, one in New York and one in Chicago. His two partners were Philip Alexander Solomon, who retired in 1919, and Edward Richard de Parcq, who closed all branches except the West End one in 1938 when Crichton died. The final location closed in the late 1950s, and many of their original pieces as well as a significant portion of Crichton’s personal collection of silver objects are now displayed in the Victoria & Albert Museum.
