Elmira Kempton (1892-1971) was an American artist from Richmond, Indiana, known for her landscapes, paintings, and etchings. She studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy under prominent instructors such as James R. Hopkins, Herman Wessel, Clement Barnhorn, Albert Krehbiel, Eliot O’Hara, and Wayman Adams. During the mid-20th century, she exhibited her work with the National Association of Women Artists (1944–1946) and held a solo show at the Argent Gallery in 1944, as well as exhibitions with the Indiana Arts Council and the Richmond Art Association in the same era. Her work reflects a grounded, representational approach rooted in her formal training and a keen eye for her Indiana surroundings.
