Elizabeth L. Baum, a native of Indiana, was born in 1914 in Sweetser near Marion, Indiana. She studied at Indiana University under Robert Burke and Harry Engle and attended The Academy of Art (Chicago) and the Chicago Art Institute. She studied privately under Claude Curry Bohm, in Brown County, and under Homer G. Davisson, in Somerset. Elizabeth was a member of the Brown County Art Gallery Association from 1949 to 1954, a charter member of the Brown County Art Guild, with an active membership from 1954-1973. She taught painting in Claude Curry Bohm's School of Landscape Painting from 1948-1952. Her paintings were exhibited at the Hoosier Salon from 1943-1965. George C. Baum, Elizabeth's father, was also a noted painter who moved to Nashville in 1958. Elizabeth teaches painting in San Francisco and maintains a studio there.
