Elaine Hyde (Born 1949) American, Art Glass Vase. Spiral pattern along the iridescent exterior with defined curves throughout. Signed and dated 1981 on the bottom.
Size: 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 x 3 3/4 in.
Elaine Hyde was born in Los Angeles, California in 1949, and first began to study art glass and glassblowing at the Brooks Institute of Fine Arts, obtaining her BFA in 1972 before taking further lessons at the Pilchuck School directly under Dale Chihuly. In 1974 she opened a studio on the beach in Santa Barbara with his encouragement, making her one of the very few women with her own workshop in the male-dominated blown glass field at the time. She has held numerous one woman shows and won many awards since, with her works in public and private collections around the country.
