Description:
East Asia, China, late Sui Dynasty to early Tang Dynasty, ca. late 6th to early 7th century CE. A ceramic figure of a standing man with a pale green, smooth glaze over his pink-pigmented surface. This figure was made to be placed into a tomb and probably represents a courtier, with his well-detailed clothing giving us a good idea of how elite people dressed during this time period. Size: 2.8" W x 10.45" H (7.1 cm x 26.5 cm)
Condition:
Intact, with tiny chips and nicks commensurate with age, including some wear to the glaze, mostly around the head and face. Nice craquelure on the glaze. Lightly encrusted surface, notably on the head.
