Dorothy Spangler (Born 1928) American, Floral Mixed Media on Canvas. Part of her "Oil Transparencies" series. A label attached to the back reads "Dorothy Spangler's oil transparencies are unique in that they are an entirely new method of painting developed by the artist. They have the warm, deep colors of oil and the washed-in spontaneity of water colors. The technique is aptly named, for the paintings have a live transparency that gives the effect of light radiating from within. They are rendered in a limited number of themes."
