David Hayes (1931-2013) was an American sculptor celebrated for his large-scale, abstract welded steel sculptures. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, his work is held in major collections, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. He was also a recipient of the Logan Prize for Sculpture and an award from the National Institute of Arts and Letters. In 2007, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree by Albertus Magnus College. His legacy continues through the David Hayes Art Foundation.
