David Fisher was born in 1928 in Odessa, Ukraine, and graduated from the Grekov School of Art with a degree in monumental and decorative sculptures. Working in a variety of mediums including marble, granite, bronze, wood, stone, and clay, he produced many prominent statues of Soviet icons and mythological figures in Russia as well as his own country, but fled along with his wife and son in the late 1970s amid deteriorating political conditions throughout the region. He settled in Brooklyn, New York, where he opened FDF Design Studios, inspired by Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and American Southwestern motifs. He (and later his son Felix, born 1961) had a particularly close association with Austin Productions Inc. through the late 90s when Fisher retired, before passing away in 2017.
Loose on black base.
