Born in Freeport, Illinois, Daniel Edler (1940–2025) was an early pioneer of the American studio glass movement who taught glassblowing, worked with Stuart & Sons, and designed for Fenton Art Glass before founding Cedarville Art Glass in 1974. Viewing glass as a jewel-like medium, he gained distinction for formulating his own vibrant chemical color blends directly in molten glass to craft unique, non-repeatable art objects. Over a career spanning nearly six decades, Edler produced nearly 20,000 works—ranging from intimate tabletop vessels to monumental fourteen-foot architectural installations—that remain widely celebrated in museums and private collections today.
