Dale DeArmond (1914-2006) American, Signed and Numbered Stone Lithograph. The image depicts three nude Inuit women observing an oversized raven clutching a salmon, with yellow sun in the background. Signed and copyrighted 1982 in pencil bottom right. Numbered 75/100 in pencil bottom middle. Titled "Raven and the village maidens" in pencil bottom left. The words "Juneau, AK Sept 1985" are written on the back of the frame in pen. In a plastic sleeve on the back is a certificate of authenticity containing extensive information on the piece, artist, and materials used, stapled to a color print out of an article about the artist.

Dale F. Burlison was born in Bismarck, North Dakota on July 2nd, 1914, and met Robert Neil DeArmond, a native of Sitka, Alaska, while they were classmates at Stadium High School in Tacoma, Washington. They married there on July 29th, 1935 and lived on a trawler traveling to Pelican, Ketchikan, and finally back to Sitka over the next decade with their two children, while she taught herself to paint and began to explore various forms of indigenous art. In 1949 she produced her first book illustration for the Sitka Printing Company, and went on to make woodcuts, wood engravings, and stonecut prints throughout the rest of her life. In 1953 Dale DeArmond moved to Juneau, where her husband was executive assistant to territorial governor B. Frank Heintzleman, and she worked first for the Alaska Territorial Library before becoming the director of the Juneau City Library from 1958 to 1979. They moved to the Sitka Pioneer Home in 1991, where she remained until her death on November 21st, 2006.
