Chihuly has often spoken about the relationship between colors and the energy that they produce when they collaborate, and yes he really did say, “I never met a color I didn't like.” It’s exactly the kind of thing you’d expect him to say as he hand paints his next unexpected master work. Here he uses acrylic paint on Arches paper, boldly combining teals and purples with red and throwing in his signature in yellow just because he can, and just because his name is Chihuly. “The drawings have to do with releasing energy,” Chihuly says, but it is energy that is also replenished, it seems, from his collaboration with others, whether he is drawing in the hotshop during a blow or in front of children in a workshop.
