Contemporary Russian Orthodox Hand Painted Icon of Christ Pantocrator.
This contemporary hand-painted icon depicts Christ Pantocrator — 'Christ the Almighty', one of the most central and recognizable images in Orthodox iconography. The Savior is shown blessing with His right hand and holding the Gospel in His left, symbolizing divine wisdom and authority. The inscription 'IC XC' and the cross-shaped halo with the Greek letters 'O Ω N' (He Who Is) affirm His divine nature.
The icon is executed in the traditional technique of egg tempera on gesso with gold leaf background. The composition follows the Byzantine canonical model, featuring deep symbolic colors: red for divine love and sacrifice, blue for heavenly wisdom. The gold background radiates sacred light, enhancing the solemn and contemplative presence of the image.
Painted on a wooden board with traditional levkas ground and covered with a protective varnish. The red border frame adds a refined accent to the composition. The detailed depiction of the Gospel book, intricate patterns, and expressive eyes reflect the high craftsmanship and spiritual depth of the work.
