Concert Hall (19th Century) Swedish, Watercolor. Inscription on back. Depicts the Sveasalen, a concert hall and entertainment venue in Stockholm.

The Sveasalen was a variety show and restaurant that opened in Stockholm in 1888. It was destroyed by a fire in 1899, but miraculously no one was injured. It was rebuilt in 1901, but demolished in 1913 to make room for a new department store. This watercolor, finely detailed, is of the original 19th Century design, and captures the atmosphere and charm of one of the foremost event halls of the day.
