Colored Portrait of Horatio Nelson. Rectangular colored portrait of Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson, 1st Duke of Bronte, after Lemuel "Francis" Abbott ; Lord Nelson is in uniform here, and you can see he is missing his right arm from a naval engagement years before; the frame measures 6 1/4 x 5 1/8 in. wide, a label on the back reads “The Medici Society Ld., MC. No. 99, Artist Abbott, Title - Viscount Nelson”, and the portrait is under glass. Lemuel "Francis" Abbott (1760 or 1761-1803) was an English portrait painter, famous for his painting of Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson (currently hanging in the Terracotta Room of number 10 Downing Street) and for those of other naval officers and literary figures of the 18th century.
