Clyde Butcher (born 1942) is an American large-format landscape photographer best known for his evocative black-and-white images of wilderness areas, especially Florida’s Everglades and Big Cypress. Initially trained as an architect, he turned to photography full time after personal tragedy and a deepening passion for nature. His work is distinguished by enormous prints that allow viewers to immerse themselves in pristine landscapes, capturing light, detail, and texture in dramatic, contemplative compositions. A passionate conservationist, Butcher uses his art to raise awareness of environmental issues and advocate for the protection of fragile wild places.
