Chinese ceramics represent one of the world's oldest and most influential ceramic traditions, with a continuous history spanning over 10,000 years. From the early earthenware of the Neolithic period to the sophisticated porcelain of the Tang, Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties, Chinese potters pioneered techniques in glazing, kiln design, and decorative artistry. Hallmarks of Chinese ceramics include celadon wares with their serene green glaze, blue-and-white porcelain with its intricate cobalt designs, and richly colored famille verte and famille rose enamels. These ceramics were not only used domestically for ritual, everyday, and imperial purposes but also became key exports along the Silk Road and later through maritime trade, profoundly influencing ceramic traditions across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Revered for their beauty, technical innovation, and cultural symbolism, Chinese ceramics remain some of the most studied and collected works in the world.
