Chinese Hetian Carved White Jade Vase. Beautiful carved white jade vessel or vase standing on three paw feet with zoomorphic handles, likely kirin, and bird finial.

Hetian jade, also known as Hotan jade, is one of the most prized varieties of nephrite jade in Chinese culture, revered for its fine texture, subtle translucence, and rich historical significance. Mined primarily from the Kunlun Mountains and riverbeds in the Hetian region of Xinjiang, China, this jade has been treasured for thousands of years, particularly the creamy white variety known as "mutton fat" jade. Hetian jade has long been associated with purity, virtue, and status, frequently used in imperial carvings, ceremonial objects, and personal ornaments. In Chinese philosophy and aesthetics, jade embodies both physical beauty and moral refinement, and Hetian jade, with its durability and elegance, remains a symbol of cultural heritage and timeless artistry.
