Chinese Bronze Decorative Vase With Phoenix and Foo Dog. Chinese bronze ritual vase or vessel with foo dog base, phoenix astride on back, with smaller bird or phoenix on finial. With incise decoration.

This piece is a modern decorative vase inspired by ancient Chinese ritual bronzes from the Shang or Zhou dynasties, featuring a phoenix-like bird standing atop a stylized dragon or qilin—both powerful mythological creatures symbolizing harmony, imperial authority, and cosmic balance. The vessel is adorned with traditional motifs such as taotie masks, thunder patterns, and vertical bands of pseudo-Chinese script, mimicking the aesthetic of archaic bronzeware. Topped with a bird-shaped finial and finished in a greenish-black patina to evoke the look of aged bronze, the piece pays homage to ancestral offering vessels while serving primarily as an artistic, symbolic display object.
