Chet Cole (born 1939) is an American studio glass artist and master glassblower whose career has spanned more than five decades. A pioneer of the American Studio Glass movement in northern New England, he co-founded Country Glass in Marshfield, Vermont, with his wife, Viiu Niiler, where the pair became known for creating distinctive hand-blown glass vessels, plates, and sculptural works inspired by the natural beauty of the Vermont landscape. Cole's work emphasizes clean forms, vibrant colors, and exceptional craftsmanship, reflecting both traditional glassblowing techniques and a modern artistic sensibility. His influence extends beyond his own studio through his son, acclaimed glassblower Gabriel Cole, who credits growing up around his father's workshop as the foundation of his own career. Today, Chet Cole is recognized as an important figure in the development of contemporary American studio glass, with works appreciated for their elegance, technical precision, and enduring craftsmanship.
