Beverly Hopps (nee Hanson) was born in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1930. She attended Rollins College in Winter Park, where she majored in sculpting and painting. She focused on Impressionist landscapes, still lifes, and figural images, and her first exhibition was with other students at the Morse Gallery in 1950. She also designed and built sets for theatrical productions at the Annie Russell Theatre, where she met architectural student Robert Hopps. They married and lived briefly in Pennsylvania, where she painted at his family home in Solebury Township. In 1955 they moved to San Rafael, California, where she continued to paint, frequently entering her work in Marin County art festivals and galleries. She passed away at her home in 2024.
