Augusto Ortega Escobedo (1914-1995) Mexican, Abstract Marble Sculpture. Signed and dated 1988. Glued to base. Swivels.

 

Size: 8 3/4 x 11 1/2 x 16 1/2 in.

 

Born in Mexico City on November 22, 1914, he began his professional and self development in 1953, having dabbled in music, painting and life as a taxi driver. Since 1957 he devoted himself to public sculpture. He worked about 20 works in this order: Portraits of heroes to Mexico City, Durango, Gomez Palacio, Lerdo City, Villa Hermosa, Cardenas City, Montreal, Canada and Universal City in California.
