Assortment of 14 Utensils, Sterling Silver / Mother of Pearl Handles. Including: Italian Stainless Grape Shears. Bridgeport Knife Company Mother of Pearl Handled (sterling mid section) Fruit knives, 2 marked sterling knives, 2 Sterling handled cake utensils with blades reading ambassador Italy. 

The Bridgeport Knife Company, while not as widely recognized as some of the larger American cutlery manufacturers, played a significant role in the Connecticut knife-making tradition.  Established in the late 19th century, they focused on producing quality pocketknives, primarily using traditional designs like the Barlow and pen knife.  These knives were known for their solid construction and reliable mechanisms, making them popular everyday tools for people in the region.  Bridgeport Knife Company contributed to Connecticut's reputation as a center of cutlery manufacturing in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and their knives remain collectible examples of this regional craftsmanship. Though the company itself was eventually absorbed by Challenge Cutlery Co., their legacy is a reminder of the rich history of pocketknife production in the state.
