Arthur Josiah Hammond (1875- 1958) American O/B
A beautiful seascape in the manner of Charles Woodbury. Original oil on board. Does not appear to ever be cleaned. Signed lower right A Hammond. Appears to be dated 1923.
A portrait and marine painter, Arthur Hammond was born in Vernon, Connecticut and as a youngster, lived in various parts of the country including Denver and California. At an early age, he began building small boats, which eventually led to his primary subject matter as a painter.
