Antique Rare National Cash Register (NCR) Brass, Metal, and Glass Receipt/Ticket Deposit Box. Likely produced in the early 20th Century, featuring ornate embossed panels with floral and scroll cast motifs, a top slot for depositing tickets or sales receipts, and a small keyhole lock on one side of the lid. Large word "National" on one side, with a four-pointed floral motif on the opposite. These were often used alongside a merchant's cash register to safely collect customer tickets or sales slips, with the glass allowing for a quick glass at the day's takings, and they continued to be used in movie theaters and other ticket-taking venues well into the late 20th Century, changing in style to suit the times.

Size: 7 x 7 x 7 in.

Founded in Dayton, Ohio in 1884 by John H. Patterson, the National Cash Register Company (NCR) revolutionized global retail by commercializing the mechanical cash register to prevent employee theft and streamline transactions. Under Patterson’s leadership, the enterprise pioneered modern corporate sales techniques including exclusive territories, scripted sales pitches, and formal training schools, while developing progressive factory employee benefits. Over the decades, the company evolved beyond mechanical registers into an international technology powerhouse, expanding into electronic point-of-sale systems, automated teller machines (ATMs), and enterprise software before restructuring as NCR Voyix and NCR Atleos in 2023.
