Born near Florence in 1910, Amilcare Santini showed an early talent for clay and alabaster modeling, apprenticing under sculptor Colombini at age twelve before formalizing his studies in Florence. As an artisan for the Tito Bianchi factory, he achieved widespread renown for his classical, Renaissance, and Art Deco figurative sculptures. Santini revolutionized commercial art reproduction by developing a specialized liquid casting process using resin, alabaster, and ground marble dust, allowing for the widespread creation of museum-quality replicas.
