Antique Hand Made Cast Iron and Wood Toy Cannon. 

Condition: We cannot guarantee the working condition of any firearms. Commensurate with age. 

 Size: 16 1/2 x 6 x 6 3/4 in. 

This toy cannon has a bored hole in the top of the metal pipe, indicating that it was able to be fired. Gunpowder and a small ball or pellets would be entered in the nozzle and allowed to fall to the back, where a small piece or rope or wick dipped in oil would be pushed down in through the bored hole and lit to ignite the powder and project the ammunition out. The tiny metal circle at back would have had a string on it to allow for easier maneuverability by a child, given that the object weighs over fifteen pounds. Without any marking visible, it is likely this was a hand-made toy, possibly in America or Europe, by taking the cannon barrel from something else and building the wood body around it. Absolutely unique find.
