Angie Dixon (Born 1953) American, Original "Cooked Blue Crabs” sumi (Asian ink) on rice paper depicts three crabs in soft tones and sharp detail, signed with an Asian seal bottom middle left and framed with 100% archival materials.

Angie Dixon was born on the East Coast where she began drawing and painting in early childhood and learned how to catch and enjoy eating blue crabs. She went on to earn dual degrees in Fine Art and Art History from the University of Washington in 1976 where she studied with George Tsutakawa and visiting painters and calligraphers form Japan and through them was introduced to sumi painting. She worked a a commercial fisherman in Alaska to support her art and save for graduate studies at the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts in the People’s Republic of China. She studied there in 1984 as one of the first Americans admitted to the school. Since then she has had exhibitions of her art in the United States and abroad as well as taught art focusing on Asian Brush and Ink painting in particular. Her work is in the Washington State Arts Collection, Alaska State Arts Collection and recently purchased by the King County Arts Collection. Her unique style molded by traditional techniques and inspiration from nature lauded by critics inspires new generations of artists. She divides her time between her studio in Seattle and another in Sarasota, Florida.
