Andrés Segovia (1929–1996) was a 20th-century artist of Argentine and Spanish background, known for his expressive still lifes, figurative works, and lithographs. Born in Buenos Aires and later based in Paris, he studied both in Argentina and Europe before dedicating himself exclusively to painting. Over the mid-20th century his work was exhibited widely throughout Europe, the United States, and Argentina. Segovia’s style evolved over time: early works often reflect a moody, post-war realist tone, while his later paintings and prints reveal a shift toward surrealist and modern expressionist approaches, with strong attention to form, light, and symbolic content. His works have appeared in museum collections and at auction, and he remains noted for bringing a fusion of European modernism and Latin American sensibility to mid-century art.
