This is an oil painting of a young girl by Alexej A Harlamoff, a Russian artist who studied in St. Petersburg and was schooled in the neo-classical style, so his early works were mainly religious and military in nature. With the advent of Romanticism, he began to do portrait work . One portrait he did in 1870 was purchased by the Tsarina of Russia, and his career seemed to take off from there. The painting here is signed in the lower left. The overall size is 25 x 21 in. wide and the sight size is 19 1/2 x 15 1/2 in. wide.
