Albert Henry Robinson (1881–1956) was a Canadian painter and founding member of the Canadian Group of Painters, best known for his vibrant, post‑Impressionist landscapes and scenes of Quebec villages along the St. Lawrence River. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, he studied at the Hamilton Art School before traveling to Paris to train at the Académie Julian and the École des Beaux‑Arts, experiences that deepened his commitment to color and composition rooted in Impressionism. Robinson exhibited widely with the Royal Canadian Academy and internationally, and although he was invited as a guest to the Group of Seven’s inaugural 1920 exhibition, he pursued his own artistic path while maintaining friendships with many of its members. His work is celebrated for its luminous palette and sensitive portrayals of Canada’s rural and historic landscapes, and can be found in major public and private collections.
